the mini-bitch: mile 420 sign edition
shoutout local journalism and the city of st. louis
I’m gonna cut right to the chase here:
Something hilarious is trending on twitter right now and I need to get it out of my system.
GOD I LOVE LOCAL JOURNALISM.
Okay, here’s how it started:

Sooooo they staged what they think a stoner teenager’s room would look like, complete with a “Mile 420” sign, cause, you know, every teen who hides drugs would also blatantly advertise that they smoke weed, apparently.
Expectedly, Twitter is having a field day:

alex halverson @AlexPSBJ
is that an air mattress? https://t.co/s2l3Rd0AW4
Paige Hulsey @paigehulsey
Looks like a normal teen’s bedroom, right? Think again. Coming up on @KMOV, we’ll show you what parents should be looking for so they can identify signs of drug use. I was shocked at what I found in this room!!! #stl #n4tm https://t.co/Df2yegDPUq

However, I have yet to find a way to watch the story in full online—perhaps intentional?—so miss me with this sass:
Let’s talk about that ^^^ though. You’re telling me that to tell a story about Fentanyl, an incredibly dangerous and deadly drug, you staged a stereotypical pot-themed bedroom, thus perpetuating the narrative that all weed use is lethal and the gateway to a life of addiction?? In a state where medical marijuana is legal? Yep, sounds like Missouri!

If you want to learn about Fentanyl sans tapestries hung with blue painters tape, check out this incredible podcast from Vice & Spotify:
Well bitches, this sets the record for fastest GMB I’ve ever written.
Stay bitchy, learn about the medical and equally valid social benefits of weed, how marijuana is very much tied to race issues, oh, and if you’re anti-weed but pro-alcohol, I BEG you to click here. (And don’t do Fentanyl.)
Until next time,
xo,
Lily
